a5c7b9f00b When a Chinese gang lord's son is murdered in Oakland, his brother, Han, breaks out of a Hong Kong prison to find out how it happened and to avenge his death. He arrives on controlled turf, a waterfront run by the rival gang-lords Ch'u Sing (Han's father) and Isaak O'Day, and their respective Chinese and African-American crime organizations. When it is clear that something bigger is involved, Han teams up with O'Day's daughter Trish to continue the hunt for justice. An avenging cop seeks out his brother's killer and falls for the daughter of a businessman who is involved in a money-deal with his father. Jet Li comes out of the shadow of the Great Wall and the harbor of Hong Kong and stars in an American movie as a main character. He, of course, got his chance earlier in Lethal Weapon 4. But that role was more limited.

Li escapes from prison in Hong Kong after hearing about his brother's death. Li becomes attracted to the younger Aaliyah, who is the daughter of the rival gang. And its all involved with a stadium deal for some new NFL team in Oakland. Apparently the Raiders have left - again.

The story is a little weak, but everything else is rather good. Li shows he can act - and that he doesn't have to play the hero always, like Jacky Chan. At least Li got some Aaliyah become the tragic accident that ended her life. But hey, I'm sure Li was happy.

Overall, its good. Well worth watching again. "B" Romeo Must Die is nothing more than a jumble of comedy, action, and drama. There are a few interesting martial arts scenes, but it is not worth the watch of this entire sh*tfest. The acting in the movie was worse than that found on porno films, and the script was not any better. I enjoy action films, but this movie's lack of direction and seriousness made me hate this and want to never see a Jet Li film ever again. In fact, when not kicking butt, (Li)'s kind of a blank spot in the center of the screen. Several action scenes were censored for the British BBFC 15 version: fighting scenes and shootouts.
