a5c7b9f00b The night Malo and his pals - the earnest Shady and the quixotic Lucas - finish NYPD's cadet school, Joe Sarcone invites Malo to join a squad of corrupt undercover officers. Sarcone was Malo's father's partner, and memories of his father's death haunt him. Malo also has unfinished business with Cyn, a former girlfriend, and with the widow of an assistant district attorney who pulled strings to get Malo into the police. Sarcone puts Malo to work as a bag man and an enforcer. He jumps into it, and asks if Shady and Lucas can join the squad. Things take a sharp turn when Malo learns of Baez, a drug kingpin, and involves his pals in a rogue robbery. Is there a plan?
The son of a slain NYPD officer joins the force, where he falls in with his father's former partner and a team of rogue cops. His new boss, Sarcone, will see if he has what it takes to be rogue through many trials and tribulations of loyalty, trust and respect. When the truth about his father's death is revealed revenge takes him over and he won't stop until justice has been truly served.
'Freelancers' is a so-so fare, that has some merit, but it isn't fully loaded either. <br/><br/>'Freelancers' Synopsis: The son of a slain NYPD officer joins the force, where he falls in with his father's former partner and a team of rogue cops.<br/><br/>'Freelancers' rests on a clichéd plot. The ever-lasting tale of of an honest cop & his battle with corrupt cops/gangsters/thief's has been depicted on the big screen an umpteen number of times. So in terms of novelty, 'Freelancers' has none of it. However, a few dramatic moments are skillfully executed, which certainly deserve a mention.<br/><br/>L. Philippe Casseus's Screenplay is average. Jessy Terrero's Direction is decent. Action-Sequences are nicely executed. <br/><br/>Performance-Wise: 50 Cent makes a sincere attempt to justify his part. De Niro is in his element. Forest Whitaker doesn't get much scope. <br/><br/>On the whole, 'Freelancers' is an okay watch.
I thought that De Niro's great acting would over come the presence of 50 cent and his horrible "acting" I was wrong. the 2 minutes of total screen time De Niro had was barley noticeable. I hate to say it but He must have just wanted to pick up a pay cheque. 50's acting was much improved from the last roll I saw with him in it in Ritious kill but maybe that was just because he had a smaller part and De Niro had Pachino to help drown out him out.<br/><br/>The script seemed mixed up, they seem to put every kind of token cop from every cop movie i've ever seen before and then just switch their roles for the fun of it. maybe fun for the writers and directors but not so fun for us viewers. The IMDb rating of 4.4 is definitely justified.<br/><br/>I gave it a generous 4/10
